Art Conservation Services
Consultations, Condition Assessment and Treatment Proposal, Preventive Conservation, Remedial Conservation, and Restoration Services

Consultations
Offering clients a clear understanding of their artwork’s condition and the conservation options available. Whether you’re a private collector, gallery, or institution, each consultation begins with a careful visual assessment—often under specialized lighting—to identify signs of deterioration, previous restorations, or environmental stress. We discuss any concerns you may have, ensuring that recommendations are tailored to both the object and your goals. Magnification, raking light, and UV examination may be used to reveal underlying issues not visible to the naked eye. The process is transparent and educational, empowering clients to make informed decisions about treatment, preventive care, and long-term preservation.

Preventive Conservation
Preventive conservation includes all measures aimed at avoiding or minimizing future deterioration. These actions are indirect and non-invasive—they do not alter the object’s materials or appearance. Examples include:
Environmental management (light, humidity, pollutants, pest control)
Safe storage, handling, and transportation protocols
Emergency planning and disaster preparedness
Registration and inventory support
These strategies are especially valuable for institutions and collectors seeking long-term preservation across entire collections.

Remedial Conservation
Remedial conservation involves direct intervention to halt active deterioration or reinforce fragile structures. These treatments are applied when an object is at risk of loss or damage and may alter its appearance. Examples include:
Disinfestation and mold remediation
Deacidification and desalination
Stabilization of corrosion or flaking
Consolidation of weakened materials
Each action is carefully documented and designed to preserve the object’s integrity while arresting harmful processes.

Restoration Services
Restoration aims to recover the aesthetic and functional value of an object that has been altered or damaged over time. These treatments are based on respect for the original material and are only applied when necessary to facilitate appreciation or use. Examples include:
Surface cleaning and varnish removal
Retouching and chromatic reintegration
Reassembling broken structures
Filling losses and reintegrating texture
Our restoration work is guided by ethical principles of minimal intervention and reversibility, ensuring that the object’s history remains visible and respected.
Condition Assesment
A detailed evaluation of the object’s current state, including photographic documentation and written analysis. This forms the basis for treatment planning, treatment proposal, and long-term care.
Treatment Proposal
A customized plan outlining recommended conservation actions, materials, estimated timeline, and projected outcomes. Proposals are tailored to the object’s significance, condition, and context.
Analytical Services
We offer material analysis using microscopy, UV examination, and pH testing to guide treatment decisions. These services help identify adhesives, degradation patterns, and prior restorations.
Disaster Recovery
In the event of water, fire, mold, or mechanical damage, our team provides emergency response and stabilization services. We work with institutions and private clients to mitigate loss and plan recovery.
