The Historical Society of Palm Beach County presents the exhibition, By Sea and Land: Florida in the Civil War, at the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum in the 1916 Palm Beach County Court House from September 8, 2015 - July 2
The exhibition is about the history of Florida from 1861 to 1877, the period during the Civil War as well as the years of the Reconstruction. The exhibit tells the stories of Floridians and how they joined the fight, including Confederates, Unionists, and former slaves who escaped their bondage with the help of the Union. It will focus particularly on how Florida contributed to the Confederacy and the high costs of war and freedom.
There are three main themes in this exhibition: Naval, Agricultural and the Daily Life at War.
